What the site does

You enter the state, the violation, how far over the limit you were and the date on the ticket. The checker applies your state's published rule, and your court's own rule where we have it, and returns one of four answers: eligible, points off, insurance only or not eligible. Each answer lists the rules behind it and links the page each rule comes from.

Where the rules come from

  • State statutes and court rules, DMV pages, and the pages courts publish about traffic school.
  • Every rule carries its source and the month we checked it. The current set was checked in October 2026.
  • A rule that a state or court does not publish shows as not published. We never fill the gap with an estimate.
  • For Arkansas and New Mexico we found no published program. Their pages say so and mark the reading as our own.

What Points Clear is not

Points Clear is not a law firm, a court or a traffic school. Rules are checked against official sources on the date shown. Your citation and your court decide.

We give no legal advice and never tell you how to plead. An answer shows the published options and what each one leads to. The choice belongs to you, and the decision to your court.

How the site pays for itself

Links to course providers may earn a commission once an affiliate program approves the site. None does yet. The how we make money page explains the rules we keep.
