Your ticket details
The checker runs in your browser. Your exact speed, your dates and the name of your court never leave it. The checker keeps your answers in the address of the page, so a link you share contains them. Share a result only with people you want to see it.
The state you pick loads that state's rules from our server, so our server sees which state's rules were loaded (for example /check-data/ca.json). The counts below also carry the state, as listed.
Visit statistics
We count visits with Umami, an analytics tool hosted on our own servers. It sets no cookies. It records the page without the part of the address after the question mark, the referring site, the browser and device type, and the country.
Our web server passes your IP address to the analytics server with each statistics request. Umami uses the address in transit only, to look up the country and to form a visitor code that changes every month. It does not store the address. We keep the statistics for as long as the site runs.
It also records these named events, with these values and nothing else:
- A check: the state, the type of violation, the type of license (regular, commercial or learner), whether the license is from that state, whether a court was picked, a speed range such as 10 to 14 mph over, and the page the check started on.
- The answer shown: which of the four answers, whether it asks you to confirm with your court, the state, whether it says to speak to a lawyer, and the kind of rule it leads with, such as the speed limit or the deadline. Where the answer comes from a lawyer guardrail it records only that it was a guardrail, never whether alcohol, drugs or an injury was involved.
- A reason opened on the answer: the rule it names and the answer.
- A result shared or printed: the answer and the state.
- A provider link opened: the link, the state, the provider, the kind of page and the answer.
- The provider comparison viewed: the state picked in its filter, or all states.
Legal basis for the statistics, the server logs and email: our legitimate interest in knowing which pages people use, keeping the site running and secure, and answering you (article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time; see your rights below.
Server logs
Our web server records each request: the time, the page, the response and the browser type. These logs leave out IP addresses and the part of a page address after the question mark, so your ticket details never reach them. When you open a link that starts with /go/, the server also logs which link it was and the page you came from. The server deletes these logs after 14 days.
Settings in your browser
The site stores nothing in your browser. The cookie page says so.
If you write to us, we use your address and message to answer you. We delete a thread once the matter is closed, and at the latest 12 months after the last message.
Your rights
Ask for a copy, a correction, a restriction or the deletion of your data at info@pointsclear.com. Where we rely on our legitimate interest, you can object to the use of your data (article 21 GDPR) at the same address. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
